  • dear friends,
unfortunately i don't speak any french at all.
i am the administrator of those websites. i am glad to have a link on my website to your forum, becaus i think it is good, that people now can easily find a forum in english, french or german with one klick.
as i said i do not speak any french at all, but i have tried to check you forum as good as i could. the most interesting thing that i have found is that some of you seem to keep tetraodon sabahensis. in germany they do not sell this species 8at least not under this name), just tetraodon nigroviridis. but i have always wondered if some of the so called "nigrovirids" are not maybe sabahensis. some of them do not as big as they should...
therefore i am really very interested in this thing: are you sure that your sabahensis are not nigroviridis? if yes: how do you differentiate them? and where did you learn to differentiate them? do you know any scientific texts about this? i have until now just seen drawings of this species made by dekkers and they look just the same to me!
so: if there is anyone who speaks a little english or german i would really appreciate it, if you could help me with information!
by the way: i am very often in paris.
    martin

  • Hello Martin,
I do not speak English, I use a translator, Nigroviridis has the white fins, Sabahensis has the striped fins of gray.

  • hi lysianne,
    thanks for your answer!
are you talking about the caudal fin?
dekkers has examined 60 tetraodon nigroviridis. and 65% of them had stripes on the caudal fin. also after dekkers tetraodon sabahensis has only stripes on the caudal fin, while the other fins are plain.
therefore the two species can not be differentiated by the colour of the caudal fin, i think.
